Short-Chain Chlorinated Paraffins
A.K.A. "Mr. Smooth"

Accused of:Being Persistent, bioaccumulative, and even biomagnifying (new word!) - found in air, land, food, wastewater, and river and ocean sediments globally. It has been detected in the fatty tissue of fish and animals world-wide and in human livers, kidneys, fat tissue and breast milk.

Last seen: Lubricating and cooling metals and lurking in rubber, paints, adhesives, sealants and plastics. People are exposed via almost all food categories. How SSCPs get into food (not to mention into your body) is unknown (and a really icky mystery).
